More Couples Having Children before Getting Married

Two organizations are concerned about a growing trend in the United States and they hope to put a stop to it before it becomes more popular.
According to the organization, more couples are deciding to have children without getting married first. Based on survey results, it has been reported that 42 percent of children under the age of 12 live with co-habitating parents rather than married ones. This number, in fact, is actually larger than those living with divorced parents, which amounted to just 24 percent according to the survey.
These numbers are alarming for the two organizations who feel that children raised in households where the parents are not married are at risk. The organizations assert that children can be affected negatively in terms of their financial, emotional and physical needs, which can only be met by living with married parents. Over time, the organizations hope to work together to lessen this trend.
If you are living with a partner for some time, you may wish to create a cohabitation agreement so that important issues, such as child custody, are addressed. To learn more about the benefits of creating such an agreement,
