Baseball Player Charged with Failure to Pay
The results of a paternity test are certain to change the course of a child support case currently being heard in California.
Earlier this month, a California baseball player was charged with failure to make child support payments for his four-year-old son. The mother of his child demanded that he pay $11,498 per month for his child. When he refused, she petitioned the court to ask him for a paternity test. The results of the test came back and showed that he was not indeed the biological father.
The three of them were living together when the mother learned that her boyfriend was still married to another woman. They separated and then she filed the paternity suit. While he was paying $4,000 per month in child support to her on a regular basis, the court determined that he should actually be paying more based on his income of $166,667 per month. His legal team fought back and denied his paternity.
