City Creates Domestic Partnership Registry for Employees
Since its neighbor, University City, created a domestic partnership registry, Olivette City is now considering a registry for its populace as well.
Should the measure come to pass, Olivette City will create a registry that is open to anyone who is at least 18-years-old and can prove a valid domestic partnership exists. This can be accomplished by showing partners lived together for a certain period of time and are, in fact, in a committed partnership.
While this may have limited use for those who are not city employees, it will open the doors for those who are. Once the registry has been created, city employees in domestic partnerships could list their partners on their own health insurance, allowing them to be covered by the city's insurance plan. This would also give them access to paid sick leave, employee assistance programs, bereavement leave and medical leave. In addition, any other facilities open to city employees, including recreational facilities, would be open to their partners as well.
Throughout the country, more and more locals are addressing domestic partners and their rights. If you have questions about your rights as a partner in a same sex relationship, speak with a Los Angeles family lawyer from our team to get the information and answers you deserve. You can set up a
