Parents Suspects in Toddler's Death
The parents of a now-deceased toddler are the prime suspects as far as the Los Angeles police department is concerned.
According to the two-page letter that was read in the judge's chambers last week, Linda Kontis, co-founder of the foster family agency that first saw Tori Sandoval, there was "grave concern" felt in giving the girl back to her biological parents. Kontis is now blaming the court system for releasing the child back into their care, and ultimately for her untimely death. Just a few months after this letter was sent, the girl was discovered with bruises all over her body, along with a fractured rib.
Although doctors worked for six hours to revive Tori, she eventually passed away as a result of her injuries. The child protection agency is now resorting to family law to determine how to prosecute the toddler's parents. Unfortunately, Tori is just one of seventy children that have passed away as a result of maltreatment, all of whom were under the county's supervision.
