Deputy Charged with Domestic Violence
Known for their high levels of stress on the job, one deputy brought his troubles home with him and now faces charges of domestic violence.
Travis Christopher Unholz, a sheriff's deputy for Orange County, was given just 19 days in jail and probation after he plead guilty to a felony firearms violation and domestic battery. This was for the Jan. 30 incident where Unholz pushed his wife to the floor. However, his wife was not the one to report the incident, but rather a friend of the family. Once the call was placed an investigation was opened on Unholz's actions.
The weapons charge came as a result of a call placed to a friend several days after, when Unholz inquired about obtained a survival kit and an automatic weapon.
At this time the Sheriff's Department is not commenting on the status of Unholz's employment. In most cases where a law enforcement officer is found guilty of a felony, termination is more likely to occur.
