Doctors Accused of Failing to Report Domestic Abuse

After losing her daughter to an abusive son-in-law, one woman has decided to sue several doctors for failing to reveal the abuse.
According to her wrongful death lawsuit, her 23-year-old daughter died after her husband strangled her with a leash, shot her and bashed her over the head with a hammer. To make matters worse, he then cut up her body and scattered it in different parts of the San Francisco Bay. The lawsuit claims that when her daughter visited the doctors three months before her death, she had serious injuries caused by domestic violence. Under California law, any health practitioner or doctor is supposed to file a domestic violence report when abuse is suspected.
However, even though the doctors allegedly knew that the victim's husband had run her over intentionally with his truck, they did not file a report. Many say that if the doctors had followed protocol, the young woman might still be alive today.
