Officer Facing Jail Time for Domestic Violence
Police are supposed to serve and protect the community, but sometimes they can get into trouble with the law, too.
Such was the case of a Los Angeles police detective who was arrested for domestic violence against his live-in girlfriend. The 49-year-old now faces multiple charges, including false imprisonment by violence, making criminal threats and multiple felony counts of domestic violence. According to the girlfriend, the detective first attacked her last October. At that time, he hit her with a knife and threatened to shoot her.
The second attack came just last month and was witnessed by several of her friends. After the second attack, the woman finally decided to press charges. He is now being held on $450,000 bail until his arraignment court date later this week. If the detective is found guilty of all the charges against him, he could spend nearly twenty years behind bars.
